City of Liverpool College (23 years to date) 2025
For over twenty-three years, I have worked as a Lecturer and Programme Leader at the City of Liverpool College, teaching across both Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) with a range of awarding bodies. My responsibilities have included curriculum design, planning, delivery, assessment, feedback, and moderation from Level 2 to Level 6.
Over the past seven years, I have specialised in Higher Education, serving as Programme Lead for Music Production. In this role, I have written and twice successfully revalidated Level 6 top-up modules in technology and industry practice. These revalidation and periodic review processes gave me in-depth experience with external benchmarking, quality assurance, higher education pedagogy, and academic assessment strategies.
The curriculum I deliver covers a wide range of subject areas, including:

LIPA University (Current 2025) – Visiting Professional, Level 6
I am currently a Visiting Professional at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), teaching the Professional Musician module on the BA (Hons) Music programme (Year 3, Level 6). This role involves working closely with final-year students to develop their professional practice, industry awareness, and career-readiness as they transition into the music industry.
My teaching at LIPA combines academic learning with practical, real-world insights from my ongoing industry practice. I deliver workshops, provide feedback on professional projects, and mentor students on building their portfolios, networking, and navigating career pathways.
Sound City (11 years to date-2025) – Programme Leader / Training Coordinator
For over a decade, I have led the Sound City Launch Training Programme, supporting emerging talent within the music industry. My role includes:
- Managing courses and supporting staff to deliver industry-focused programmes
- Designing and developing curriculum content
- Coordinating venues, helping with masterclasses, networking events, and mentoring schemes
- Supporting funding applications, bursaries, and professional development opportunities
I combine curriculum leadership with direct consultancy and mentoring, ensuring students gain practical insights into today’s music industry. My ongoing professional practice—featuring productions on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Introducing—ensures that my teaching remains current and industry-relevant.
The programme is further strengthened by guest experts who continue to work at a high level in the industry, adding credibility and enhancing the real-world value of the training.

Artist Management – Miles Temp (Current)
- Producing, recording, and content creation for distribution

- Radio 1 play for artist and my production-plus many plays on BBC intro/ productions.

Music Industry History
My professional music career began in the early 1990s as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Since then, I have achieved:
- Over 60 domestic and international releases (vinyl, CD, downloads, streaming)
- Releases across both independent and major labels
- Performance and touring experience in multiple indie bands before founding ISM, an electronic dance music band signed to multiple independent and a remix to EMI
- Co-writing, production, and management experience with ISM, who toured the UK and Europe and ran their own recording studio in Liverpool (9 years)
After focusing on my teaching career, I relaunched my music practice in 2009 as Kooky, producing, DJing, remixing, and releasing on the Manchester-based label Paper Disco (as Kooky & Damoon).
Most recently, I have expanded into artist management, strengthening my professional ties to the local music industry.
